Membership in The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation, Inc.

The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation initiates a long-term effort that is meant to evoke Hartford’s historical secular “bishops,” forward-thinking business and finance leders of the 19th-and 20th-centuries. The Archbishop is inviting community leaders, the bishops of today, to help assist in supporting the Church’s mission within the wider context of the spiritual, social and material well-being of everyone in the Hartford, Litchfield and New Haven counties. These secular “bishops” will provide advice and counsel that is reflective of public attitudes, while staying informed about the Archdiocese of Hartford and influencing its future.

“To ensure the mission of the Archdiocese of Hartford is fulfilled
and the vision is realized”

Further, to accomplish this purpose the Foundation Board of Directors will be asked to help build long-lasting relationship with the public to marshal the resources necessary to support the mission and vision of the Archdiocese of Hartford.

Membership is by invitation of The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation, based on nominations put forward by its members, directors, and friends. The Foundation Board includes approximately 42 directors who represent the Archdiocese’s various constituencies: parishes, parents, friends, and business and community leaders.

Each director serves a three-year term, and is eligible to be re-appointed.

In support of the mission and programs of the Archdiocese of Hartford, each Director of the Foundation Board will be asked to make The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation one of their philanthropic commitments according to personal means.

Organization Structure
The Executive Director of the Foundation will provide institutional support to the Foundation.

The Foundation Board of Directors will meet twice annually – in the spring and in the fall.
